Learning English in Coronavirus time
We know many of you are at home with your children following the recommendation of the Finnish Government, and we know also that sometimes it´s difficult to get our children entertained.
Each group will have ideas for activities to do at home following the topics we have been learning lately. You will receive them by Whatsapp.
Add to these activities we would like to give you some other ideas to keep on learning English.
Youtube Channel: Super Simple songs
As we all know children love to learn by hearing (singing) songs and dancing, it is a great way to learn and songs get stuck in their memory for a long time.
They already know many of the songs that are in this channel, but some will be new and other ones will help you to have a dancing party in your living room.
English app: Lingokids
Lingokids is an app that helps the children to learn English by playing. It has different kinds of games and different levels for learning, you just need to choose the best one for your child.
It has a free mode and also a paying one. We know it is not the cheapest but is really good resource.
Netflix: Pocoyo, Pepa pig, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia
Watching series in English is a good way to learn the pronunciation. For sure each of your children already have a favorite TV program. If it is from Netflix, you can always switch it to English and that way they will know what it is about and at the same time learn English.
For children until 3 we recommend Pocoyo, until 5 Pepa Pig is a good option and older will enjoy with Trollhunters.
English Website:
https://www.cambridgeenglish.org/learning-english/parents-and-children/activities-for-children/
https://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/read-write
These both websites have lots of activities and different games your children can do at home, find the one that best suits for your child´s age and skills and download the material.
We hope you find this info useful and that at least we gave you some ideas of what to do in case your child is bored.
Wish you all the best in this “quarantine”
Best Regards
